Black Roots' 40th anniverasy year is fast coming to an end and as a way of saying thank you to all those who have supported the music and followed the band Nubian Records is offering a free download of this iconic song. It was a year marked with sadness at the loss of Charles Augustus Bryan, who passed away in July this year. He sang lead on this song, so it is a fitting tribute to him as well.
'Juvenile Delinquent' is one of the most popular songs written and performed by the band. It is also one of the best known. It is a chant that so many people can connect to and empathise with, describing so well the experience of ghetto youth back in the 80s. Today the message is still as relevant as it was then particularly at a time when youth unemployment across Europe and the world is so high.
This song features on the band's debut album simply titled 'Black Roots' released back in 1983. It was also released in 1984 as a single on Kick Records. This 12" version is still much sought after.
